My Little Hero
My little sister is my HERO! When she called me 1 year ago this week and told me she had found a lump in her breast, had it biopsied and that it was cancer I was devastated. She was 38, healthy and we have NO family history of breast cancer. It was something I would have NEVER expected.
She’s married, her baby boy had just turned 1 and she handled the diagnosis with grace. Not only did she have to come to terms with her diagnosis and impending chemo treatment, she and her husband had to quickly go through fertility treatments to harvest her eggs, should they want more babies. So in the span of 6 weeks, she found out she had breast cancer, went through egg retrieval and started her first round of chemo. Unreal.
The whirlwind of 2020 and covid meant she went alone to chemo treatments and that she just got dropped off at the hospital front door when she had to go for her lumpectomy. Never did she complain. Never did she ask why her. She fought like a warrior and kicked the shit out of cancer.
I want to nominate her for a comeback recipient because this would be something for her. Something she could use to bounce back from the hardest year of her life. 💕
